Start your holiday shopping while supporting local artists at Bath House Cultural Center’s 2014 Winter Art Mart. More than fifty visual artists fill up the galleries, lobby, theater, and even the building’s front porch with a variety of paintings, photographs, pottery, sculpture, fiber arts, ceramics, jewelry and other one-of-a-kind wares. Attend either the preview reception from 7-9 p.m. on Friday or the sale and auction, held from noon-6 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Parking and admission is free; food truck fare will be available at an additional cost.

It’s opening weekend for Dallas Children Theater’s latest production, “Miracle on 34th Street.” Based on the beloved film and novel, this nostalgic holiday features a single mother and her young daughter, Susan, who have given up on Christmas — that’s until they meet a mysterious gentleman at Macy’s claiming to be Santa Claus. This jolly Kris Kringle brings them hope and unleashes waves of goodwill throughout New York City. Could he be the real Santa Claus? Performance times vary; purchase tickets online here. Cost is $22-$28.

Join Dallas author Marney Makridakis at Barnes & Noble this Sunday at 3 p.m. for an inspiring afternoon as she shares tools and techniques from her new book, “Hop, Skip, Jump: 75 Ways to Playfully Manifest a Meaningful Life.” Free
