It’s opening weekend for Dallas Children Theater’s latest production, “Miracle on 34th Street.” Based on the beloved film and novel, this nostalgic holiday features a single mother and her young daughter, Susan, who have given up on Christmas — that’s until they meet a mysterious gentleman at Macy’s claiming to be Santa Claus. This jolly Kris Kringle brings them hope and unleashes waves of goodwill throughout New York City. Could he be the real Santa Claus? Performance times vary; purchase tickets online here. Cost is $22-$28.

Join Dallas author Marney Makridakis at Barnes & Noble this Sunday at 3 p.m. for an inspiring afternoon as she shares tools and techniques from her new book, “Hop, Skip, Jump: 75 Ways to Playfully Manifest a Meaningful Life.” Free
