In his final hours he was, appropriately, fundraising. He welcomed Lake Highlands Women’s League members who arrived to present a check for the Y’s Make-A-Splash program, which teaches children and teens living in LH-area apartment communities to swim. The danger is serious, he said, with most complexes having unguarded pools and children year ‘round. In addition to cash donations to pay for swim instructors, Moon said the program also needs swimsuits and goggles. Contributions can be brought to the Y.

Moon’s fundraising experience will come in handy, as the Park Cities Y recently launched a $28 million fundraising campaign for its new building on Preston Road. The facility has been renamed for its $8 million donor and is expected to open at the end of 2015.

Moon’s LH assistant, Clint Elliott, has been named executive director of the LH YMCA. Congratulations, Clint!
