“White Rock hosts hundreds of events every year, from marathons and training runs to family reunions and birthday parties,” Conservancy chair Bill Mateja, notes. “This is an event dedicated to celebrating the lake itself. White Rock is the largest urban park in the nation, larger even than New York’s Central Park. It deserves its own party.”

Celebration! White Rock proceeds benefit improvements at the lake including the Stone Tables and Pavilion, reconstruction of fishing piers, and other infrastructure projects (the ones we outlined in this story).

“These projects will greatly enhance the enjoyment and aesthetics of the park, as well as the safety and functionality,” says event co-chair Dave Pastre.

Weather forecast says high 70s, so if the wind dies down it should be a fine evening for a party. Don’t forget your ID, which is required to enter the post-race beer garden.
