On Tuesday, Nov. 15 those whose lives and the lives of their families have been touched by Alzheimer’s Disease will gather for a special event at the Arboretum’s Rosine Hall.
“Sharing Memories: Celebration of Life and Hope,” presented by the Alzheimer’s Association, is a candlelight tribute honoring the valiant struggles of those living with the disease, as well as those who’ve passed away from it.
According to AARP, the disease afflicts 4.5 million Americans. Though a cause and cure remain elusive, research into the disease has gained momentum in recent years, and significant developments into understanding the affliction have been made in the last two years alone, giving hope to patients and their families.
Prior to the candle lighting ceremony, families will share a time of remembrance and support, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Light hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served, and the Texas Winds Musical Outreach will perform.
At 7 p.m., the main program will begin. It is expected to last an hour. Inspirational and spiritual speakers will be present, and valet parking and escorts will be on-hand to assist guests to and from Rosine Hall.
