A couple education-related tidbits: The Lake Highlands Elementary Playground Committee is raising funds by way of a vacation raffle. The committee’s goal is long-term fundraising initiative “aimed at improving and upgrading primary and secondary playgrounds, sports fields and common areas of Lake Highlands Elementary,” leaders say. Win lodging at a six-bedroom home in Cancion Del Mar in Mexico. Tix are $10 each. Only 500 will be sold. Email LHEplaygroundproject@gmail.com.
Moss Haven Elementary recently was named a healthy zone school by Cooper Clinic and United Way. Only 52 schools in North Texas have the distinction and the honor is the result of the learning farm and chicken coop, which we showed you here.
Schools around the country reportedly have adopted the model.
