LHWL_Las_Vegas_AnnouncementLake Highlands Women’s League members work hard, but they play hard, too.

When Cultural Committee Chairmen Kathy Adams and Lisa Sides announced to their 100 waiting members and additional eager sustainers Friday the destination of this year’s fun trip, they went all-out. The committee danced a Vegas-style showgirl number to the strains of Viva Las Vegas, while members applauded with glee. The annual trip, to a different destination each year, is paid for by attending members (no LHWL funds are used) and is designed as a time for volunteers to get to know each other better and celebrate another successful home tour. Previous trips have included Charleston, Washington, D.C., New Orleans, and others.

The Lake Highlands Women’s League has distributed more than $1.1 million in college scholarships and more than $500,000 in its 44 years of service to the community.

LHWL’s primary fundraiser, the Home in the Highlands home tour, takes place the first Friday of December every year. This year’s tour, featuring four differing styles in locations spread around Lake Highlands, will occur on December 6 and will include a Holiday Market with vendor booths, crafts and baked goods.
