Some say though pizza was invented in Italy, it was perfected in New York City, and brother-sister restaurateurs Luan and Mirlinda Vraniqi have roots in both. Together they brought the illustrious big-city pizza taste to Lake Highlands back in 1982, and have been dishing it out ever since – they’ll even drop it at your door. Make no mistake, though. These folks deliver more than mere pies. The menu is chock full of subs, pastas, salads and desserts. The fettuccini alfredo, for example, is a neighborhood favorite, says Luan Vraniqi. “We use a very high-quality cream, which makes all of our fettuccini dishes very popular.” The Greek salad and seafood dishes such as the shrimp scampi are newer, up-and-coming menu items. And the subs – further evidence of the eatery’s northeastern lineage – are tops. The Philly cheese steak, for instance, comes with an impressive mound of thinly sliced steak, onions and peppers topped with a steaming layer of melted mozzarella – all stuffed loosely into a toasted Italian roll. Though they deliver any $10-plus order within about a three-mile radius (these are guidelines rather than strict rules, says Luan), it wouldn’t hurt to stop in every now and then. The restaurant is a Lake Highlands gathering spot of sorts, rich in community spirit.
