006aaJanna Gardner proudly conducted tours of the new Healing Hands Ministries facility last night, showing off everything from the spacious waiting room with stylish chairs and muted blue walls to the en suite bathroom which means patients will no longer have to walk their urine specimens down the hall from the office building’s restrooms.

Ten exam rooms gleam with fresh paint and shiny new instruments, and the eye and dental chairs sit ready and welcoming. The office is roomy and organized, and staff members have a small break room where they can grab dinner. The new charity clinic officially opened April 23rd.

Lake Highlands residents who showed up to tour the facility were impressed.

008a“This is amazing,” said Mary Barnes, who visited with several members of Lake Highlands Women’s League. Mary is next year’s LHWL Home Tour chairman, and the league is a perennial Healing Hands supporter.

“It’s big and it’s gorgeous,” agreed Donna Manthey, a volunteer at Healing Hands.

“It’s like moving from a one bedroom home to a seven,” added Myesha Bryant, one of Healing Hands’ nurses. In their former cramped space, she said, as they took on more and more patients, nurses, doctors and staff tended to bump into each other. “Now, we take more steps, but it’s much easier.”
