Photographer Jennifer Shertzer reports back from the inaugural Big D Duck Derby, which took place last Saturday at Lake Highlands Town Center, though her photos pretty much say it all: wowzer.
“Some 5,000 adopted rubber ducks raced down the creek, and the fastest 5 ducks earned their adoptive parents cool stuff, including a grand prize of a $2500 Visa gift card,” Shertzer notes.
“Families enjoyed musical performances and entertainment by local groups and the Lake Highlands Wranglers.
Kids enjoyed a bounce house, giant inflatable slide, face painting and fun carnival-type games.
But the most popular activity for kids seemed to be throwing inflatable ducks into the town center’s fountain!
Several food trucks were there to serve barbecue, hot dogs and cupcakes.”
