Andrew Acord, commander of the northeast police division, sent this message via social media and email yesterday. It is basically a thanks-for-the-thanks letter.

Lake Highlands residents offered their appreciation for our area's police in myriad ways, some involving food.

WOW! Wow is the first word that comes to mind to describe the showering of appreciation that the Lake Highlands community has shown for the hard work of the men and women of the Dallas Police Department and specifically the Northeast Division regarding the recent assaults. The gratitude the community has shown over the past couple of weeks has been overwhelming. All of the baked goods, catered meals, fruit and gift baskets, cards, and signs are very much appreciated by the troops. Although many of the troops may be a pound or two heavier and a step slower I can tell you they sincerely appreciated your display of support. I can also tell you the Mounted Unit horses and K-9 Unit dogs found their goody basket delicious as well.

We are truly in this together. The Northeast Division remains committed to serving it’s citizens. It is my pleasure to serve as the commander of the Northeast Division.
Sincerely,

Andrew Acord
