The Lake Highlands High School varsity wrestling team will compete at the regional meet in Allen tomorrow and Saturday after winning their 6th consecutive district title last weekend. The Cats defeated Skyline, 2nd in district, by a whopping 75 points to clinch the gold. Legendary LHHS Coach Pete Grieder, a member of the Texas Wrestling Hall of Fame, was named District Wrestling Coach of the Year.

All 14 varsity wrestlers earned spots at the regional tournament. First place finishers were: Senior D’Andre Brumfield at 113 pounds, junior Thayer Atkins at 120, senior Deandre Neroes at 138, senior Dylan Domizio at 170 and senior Todd Fullerlove at 182.

Winning silver were junior T.J. Grieder at 145, senior Trevor Gin at 195, senior Devaunta Cuba at 220 and senior heavyweight Isaiah Johnson.

Earning third were senior Nate Villasana at 160 and freshman Jack Smitham at 106.

Fourth place went to sophomore Seth Villasana at 126, sophomore Sam Ketchmark at 132 and sophomore Reid Curnutt at 152. The top four finishers in each weight class move on to the regional tournament.

The JV also dominated at district, including seven individual first place finishers: Juniors Martin Taylor and Rainey Washington, Sophomores Connor Bosch, Evan Hayter and Jordon Lockhart, and Freshmen Twquan Clayton and Lenzie Jones.
