Lake Highlands High School senior Sango Demunga wants to win a college scholarship, but she needs your vote. Sango made a one-minute video telling her inspirational story and entered it into the Dr. Pepper Tuition Giveaway contest. Now, she’s one of ten finalists and she can win up to $100,000 if enough people click to vote.
Sango and her family fled the violence in Congo 8 years ago. They spent 7 years in a refugee camp in Tanzania – and were grateful for the shelter – but it was a tough life for a family of ten.
After four years in Lake Highlands, Sango has worked hard at school and made friends. She’s developed a network of social workers and adult mentors to help, and now she’s ready for Texas Women’s University in the fall – IF she can find a way to pay for it.
