When the Aggie’s freshman phenom known as “Johnny Football” snatched a victory from the top-ranked Alabama Tide Saturday, every college fan in the country was watching. Highlight videos of the game have run endlessly all week and photos of Johnny Manziel, just 19 years old, have been printed in most every newspaper.
Look closely, and you’ll see a familiar name on Johnny Football’s arm. Manziel always wears a Granger Smith armband, especially on gameday.
Granger Smith is, of course, the Lake Highlands High School graduate and popular country & western musician. He’s especially beloved on the Texas A&M campus, where he also graduated and where his I Bleed Maroon hit is often heard on the local radio station and cranked up in dorm rooms and honky tonks.
