Little lab Lucy loves fishing. Owner Cristi Speaks of Lake Highlands snapped this shot at an East Texas farm not long after the pup was rescued from a dumpster by Speaks’s husband, a Dallas firefighter. “He received a 911 call that there was a puppy trapped in a garbage bin,” she says. “They went to check it out and didn’t see anything. Then they heard a noise coming from a tiny diaper box behind the dumpster. [Lucy] was inside. She was only 6 pounds and barely 8-weeks-old. My husband took her back to the station where she spent the night in his bed. And the rest is history!”
