This place seems to have a lot of bad luck.
This is the second big fire at Big Mama’s Chicken and Waffles, a Forest-Audelia soul-food favorite. The flames broke out mid-morning Monday and several fire trucks and emergency vehicles responded and put out the fire. There appears to be quite a bit of damage to the facade and front interior of the tiny drive-thru restaurant.
Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans says it was likely a 1-alarm fire, because he was not notified about it. He generally is called on 3-alarm fires or fires that involve a fatality.
He does not know of an investigation into this fire, but says he will let us know if he learns differently.
