Lake Highlands Junior High 8th grader Kelsey Buckley has landed a starring role in the Garland Civic Theatre production of The Secret Garden, with performances scheduled for just after Christmas. An alum of White Rock Elementary, Kelsey is a member of Limited Edition, the LHJH pop music group, and she’s in the Dallas Theater Center’s Teen Company Ensemble.

Kelsey, shown on the left in this photo, will be playing Mary Lennox in The Secret Garden. In the story, Mary is dubbed a difficult child and sent away to live with her uncle after the death of her parents. Stuck in gloomy Misselthwaite Manor, Mary finds that her uncle is never home, but she bonds with his young son Colin, an apparent incurable invalid. When Mary discovers a strange walled garden, locked up for years, Mary taps into its magic to help restore Colin to health and reunite him with his father.
