While five schools in the Dallas area celebrate being named a 2009 National Blue Ribbon School, we in Lake Highlands can enjoy knowing our high school received the honor in 2002. Those of us around in The Dr. Bob Era remember his joy and pride about being chosen, but if your oldest child just entered LHHS, he/she was only a third grader and you may not have heard the good news.

The Blue Ribbon designation is given by the U.S. Department of Education to recognize schools “that are either academically superior or that demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement to high levels.” The qualifications which earned our title in 2002 – high academic achievement and significant improvement within a highly diverse student population – remain strong today.
