Parents and Advocates for Slower Learners is a non-profit organization with the goal of providing social opportunities for adults with developmental difficulties. Adult slow learners 17 and older, as well as their family members, are welcome to join PASL. Members of PASL meet monthly for social activities. Texas Center for the Physically Impaired, an organization founded by Lake Highlands resident Robert Langford, seeks donations of used computers and computer parts, which will be refurbished and then shipped free to visually impaired people. The Presby Presenters Toastmasters group meets Thursdays from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, 8200 Walnut Hill. The SPCA of Texas runs an injured animal rescue ambulance service to help strays. SPCA will respond to calls in our neighborhood from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. daily. Field officers will evaluate injured animals and take them to the SPCA, Highland Park Animal Clinic, or an emergency clinic for treatment. 214.651.7387.
