Lake Highlands’ Bobby Burns was given the green light Tuesday night to officially become Superintendent of Carrollton-Farmers Branch schools. Burns had been acting superintendent since October, when schools chief Annette Griffin was arrested for driving while intoxicated. In finalizing their decision, CFB trustees praised him for his steady leadership during tough times. Burns, in return, lauded the teachers, staff, and students whose dedication and achievement make CFB “a lighthouse” district with a strong reputation.
Burns and his wife, Tina, are longtime LH residents and supporters of the Cats. Son, Taylor, graduated from LHHS in 2005 and played baseball at The University of the South, aka Sewanee. Son, Byron, will be a senior on this year’s Wildcat baseball team. Tina and Byron spent Tuesday volunteering at the Wildcat Club’s Cat Classic golf tournament, and Tina is often seen helping in the LHHS front office. Congratulations, Bobby.
