As noted in the June Lake Highlands Advocate story “Ride On”, the Lone Star Ride to benefit AIDS research and prevention rolls out next September but organizers have been working their tires off for months now to raise money for the event. Grapevine-based D’Vine Wines recently signed on to produce and package two wines whose sales will benefit the Lone Star Ride. Big Boots Wines come in Broken Spoke Red and Wobbly Wheel White.

“Anyone who is a cyclist will instantly get the meaning of our labels, says race director David Minehart. “They are a play on words for a very common problem faced by cyclists. If you break a spoke, the next problem you instantly face is a wobbly wheel. One thing leads to another.”

The red wine is half Cabernet and half Merlot and a “perfectly balanced medium-bodied red sipper,” according to D’Vine Wines Sebastian Gracki. The white wine is 100 percent Pinot Grigio exhibiting aromas of apple and pear and is “vibrant, fresh and juicy” with a “strikingly crisp finish”.
