Yesterday, I had the honor of participating in WillieBuild, a Habitat for Humanity project in honor of Willie Tichenor. Willie died of cancer in 2006 at age 19. Willie graduated from Highland Park High, but he went to church with bunches of Lake Highlands kids and developed a wide circle of friends in LH. He was a very special kid, and if you’d like a little lift I hope you’ll take a moment to check out his website.

If you’d like a great-big mountaintop lift, consider supporting WillieBuild. Two homes will be completed from the ground up, and construction continues until May 22. Dedication of the homes for the Cortes and Vasquez families will take place May 23 at 11 am. Willie’s parents, Lisa and Mac, are out there each day hammering and painting along with the crowd. The project celebrates Willie’s choice to live abundantly during his short life, and they invite you participate.
