Times when I’ve observed the social dynamics of humans and canines at the White Rock Dog Park, I’ve thought to myself … this would make an interesting study. Well, a reporter at the Observer, Alexa Schirtzinger, has mustered up the time (and tolerance to strong odor) to go inside the park and meet some of the regulars — easily identifiable, they are the ones who act like they own the place. Ha, I joke.

White Rock area neighbor Andi Comini (the lady with the dinosaur in her front yard), one of the park’s originators, is mentioned in the Observer‘s May 20 cover story "Dog’s Best Friend". She says a lot of folks thought she was nuts with the whole idea of a park where dogs play with other dogs. The story also touches on a ritual I’ve long suspected — people aren’t at the park solely for their pooches but also to hook up with like-minded mates. Anyway, it is a fun article, and if you frequent White Rock or Unleashed dog parks you’re sure to see some characters you know in it.
