The Dallas Mavericks have been hosting a really cool reoccurring event over in Victory’s AT&T Plaza (outside the South Entrance of American Airlines Center) since late last month — well, cool if you’re a video game nerd like me. The "Guitar Hero Challenge" gets underway each game night through April 10, two hours prior to tip off. Find details here.
So if you’re going to the Golden State game tonight, go early and get in on the virtual jam session. Or, watch a preview — I came across this You Tube video of local kid Daniel Johnston winning one of the preliminaries (give it about 15 seconds to get going). The championship round is April 16.
There’s only one problem. If you listen to the video, the emcee says the grand prize winner will play at a first-round playoff game at the American Airlines Center. And I’m thinking … wait a minute — shouldn’t we get past Golden State first? Maybe that’s the problem with the Mavs right now. Are we planning a parade too?
