After a particularly turbulent storm last week I was driving through Little Forest Hills and — in addition to branches and other natural debris in the road — there were big trash bags full of leaves, small furniture parts and cardboard boxes tossed about the neighborhood. The problem? Bulk trash week meets high winds.

So tonight I’ve just driven through my Lake Highlands ‘hood, where just about every house, including mine, has a monstrous pile awaiting bulk trash pick up this week. Of course the forecasters are calling for high winds and rain — hopefully we won’t see such fierce winds as we did a week or two ago. And hey, if a few trash bags in the street is all we have to deal with, we’re lucky, unlike some of our neighboring ‘burbs like Plano and Allen, where trees were falling on cars and trampolines were flying over fences.
