Put another notch in the collective lipstick case of the Lake Highlands Women’s League, for they’ve reached another milestone.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the “Holiday in the Highlands” home tour, held Friday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Four Lake Highlands homes will be featured, and a luncheon and bazaar will be held at Highlands Oaks Church of Christ, 10805 Kingsley (these events have been held at Lake Highlands United Methodist Church in the past, but that building is undergoing remodeling). The bazaar will feature holiday craft items and baked goods donated by the Women’s League, as well as items offered by many other vendors.

The bazaar begins at 9:30 a.m. and is free and open to the public. The luncheon is $10, and tickets must be purchased in advance due to limited seating. Tickets to the tour are $10 in advance or $12 the day of the tour, available at the church or by calling the number below.

This year’s homes include a “colorful and traditional house filled with English antiques,” and a new-construction home, “done in the Texas Hill Country style, with Austin stone,” says LHWL member Carol Baker.

Each year, proceeds from the tour and bazaar fund scholarships for Lake Highlands High School graduating seniors and other community projects. Last year, the league donated more than $79,000 to these causes.

“We’re just overwhelmed every year that we make as much as we do,” Baker says.
