The Lake Highlands High School 1993-1994 Student Council received several statewide honors and awards.

The Council was elected to serve as the vice-president school for State District III. At district and state competition, the Council received an Outstanding Overall Student Council award, as well as an Outstanding Smile award for drug and alcohol awareness and an Energy award.

For community service, the Council also was ranked as one of the Top Ten Service Projects in the state. The Council participated in the City’s People Helping People program. About 50 students and 10 members of the Elks Lodge spent a Saturday scraping, caulking and painting two homes and doing yard work for elderly citizens.

The Student Council served as a Profile School at a State Convention. This recognition was given to only two 5A high schools. Members of the Council gave a 45 minute presentation on “How to be an Outstanding Student Council.”
