Advocate magazines/Advocate Publishing was founded in 1991 by Rick Wamre, Jeff Siegel and Tom Zielinski, longtime Dallas residents who sensed a receptiveness in the city’s neighborhoods for involved and in-depth community journalism. We began our venture with the monthly Lakewood/East Dallas publication, following that one year later with the Lake Highlands magazine. We began publishing in Preston Hollow in 2000, in Far North Dallas in March 2005, and in Oak Cliff in September 2008.
In each publication, we strive to highlight the great things our neighborhoods have to offer while spotlighting the issues that need addressing. We offer memorable stories that help preserve the singular personality and rich heritage of each neighborhood we cover. We connect more than 200,000 loyal readers with hundreds of neighborhood-oriented advertisers they use again and again.

Advocate Publishing debuted this special annual magazine in 1999.
