Lake Ridge layout

Finally Lake Highlands is celebrating the arrival of several new restaurants, including multiple spots serving tacos. It begs the question – can a neighborhood have too many taco places?

Silly question.

Taco Joint has announced plans to open its fifth Dallas-area location at Lake Ridge Village, adding to their original shop near Baylor Hospital and additional stores at Mockingbird & Abrams, Preston Center and Richardson Heights. The newest Taco Joint will open in the former Urban Thrift space near the newly announced RM 12:20 Bistro.

Taco Joint and RM 12:20 Bistro are the first new tenants to sign on in the Lake Ridge Village redevelopment at Walnut Hill and Audelia, and negotiations are reportedly in the works for several more. The developer, SHOP Companies, secured Skillman Corridor TIF (Tax Incremental Financing) District funds for the project, originally built in the 1960s and slated to be completed by December. Neighborhood favorites Atomic Pie and Lake Highlands Creamery will stay on, and a pocket park with trees will be added in the middle of the shopping center.

Once it’s built, Taco Joint will open at 6:30 a.m. (8 on weekend mornings) and serve breakfast all day. They’ll offer tacos, yes, and also enchiladas, burritos, soups and salads, and they’ll serve margaritas and beer in the bar. No word yet on whether this store will have a patio. Will the Lake Highlands Taco Joint have a mural, like this one at the Lakewood store?
