Watercrest Park was one of the first completed pieces of the Lake Highlands Town Center, opening in 2011 to set the tone of the upcoming development as a community gathering place. Its 20 acres include trails, a small lake and public art displays.

But sitting in the bucolic park is a water feature that years ago died. It sat, neglected, until a group of neighbors decided to bring it back to life. For months, the spray-ground inspired water features has been roped off with ugly fencing as construction got underway to make it functional for families. This week, the newly restored design was unveiled, even though it may be too cold to enjoy just yet. Stop by at night and see its color-changing lights that provide a psychedelic yet soothing effect.
