But Berg, who starred in school musicals at LHHS and was a standout in the pop group Espree, has released a debut album, “The Velvet Ears,” with his band by the same name. He’s featured in the October issue of Buddy Magazine.

Writer Jackie Don Loe talks about Berg’s time writing songs and finding his sound after he dropped out of Texas State and progressed a few rounds on America’s Got Talent.

“Ryan is a spirited front man and commands the stage when performing his expertise,” says Loe. “On the record and in his live shows he leaves plenty of room for the guitar players to show off their chops while staying within the content of the song. His songs are continually growing and changing with the mood of the times. The Velvet Ears are absolutely poised to be the next big thing out of Dallas.”

Berg will perform Nov. 6th at the Rustic and Dec. 30th at the Granada with Bob Schneider.
