Trey Rackler with his nephew, Henry

Lake Highlands High 2004 grad and U.S. Marine veteran James Rackler III (Trey) was killed Monday morning by a suspected drunk driver in McKinney. Trey was traveling from his home in Princeton to his new job at TEKsystems in Frisco.

McKinney police say that Gonzalo Aguilar was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 380 near FM 1827 about 7 a.m. when he stopped on the shoulder of the road. He pulled out to attempt an illegal U-turn and hit Trey on his black Yamaha motorcycle. Trey was thrown from his cycle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigating officers tested Aguilar’s sobriety when they observed signs of intoxication at the scene. A search warrant led to a blood test and Aguilar was arrested.

Carol, I’ve been out of touch with the Rackler’s for some time, but would like to reach out to offer my condolences. Trey was a wonderful friend during my years on the swim team. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. If you know of a way to reach them, I can be contacted via facebook. Genevieve Lawson

Fellow Wildcats mourn. I pray for this family and his friends, a quiet mind, and a heart at peace.

This is so hard to fathom. Trey was my son’s patrol leader as well as senior patrol leader in Troop 890 and a wonderful role model. I’m so sorry James and Jane
