Police say Jose Daniel Amaya, 23, was “upset and highly intoxicated” when he stabbed himself in the stomach with a knife and fled on foot from the last place he was seen — that is, the 1200 block of Audelia Road, just west of the Whispering Hills neighborhood in northeast Dallas and on the fringe of northernmost Lake Highlands, at about 10:45 p.m. Sunday, July 2.

Police did not provide a photo, but describe Amaya as Latin male, about 5 foot four inches, 144 pounds, black hair and brown eyes. At the time of the incident he was wearing a white shirt, blue jean shorts and white-and-red sandals, they add.

It should go without saying, but police also note “he is considered a danger to himself.”

If you see, or think you see, Amaya, please contact 911 or the Dallas Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit at 214.671.4268.
