BCWorkshops to discuss public parks begin tonight at 6 p.m. in Lake Highlands.

A meeting tonite at 6 p.m. at Lake Highlands Baptist Church, 642 Brookhurst, offers Lake Highlands dwellers a chance to learn about neighborhood parks and weigh in on our neighborhood’s needs as it relates to accessing and enjoying them. According to organizers, the workshops aim to “share and discuss the physical, social, environmental, and economic factors that influence the ease and barriers to access and experience of Dallas’ parks and open space. The outcomes of these meetings will directly influence the development of the Smart Growth for Dallas Decision Support Tool that will help Dallas prioritize its investments in parks based on their economic, social, and ecological benefits.”

In other words, tonight is an opportunity to advocate for an investment in our area’s parks and green spaces. After a 20-minute presentation, attendees will be allowed to ask questions and then participate in a break-out session.

Results of the program will be available to the public through an interactive website, which is in the works. Follow BCWorkshop on social media, for now.
