Retail Plaza, Inc.’s center at Skillman-Abrams will be anchored by the new Alamo Drafthouse

Retail Plazas, Inc. (RPI), new owner of the Skillman-Abrams shopping center set to host the new Alamo Drafthouse and several new restaurants, has plans to rename the center and they’re seeking the community’s help to select a fresh name.

Advocate will share a survey between RPI’s finalists here on the blog just after Thanksgiving, but until then we hope you’ll brainstorm and share your ideas in the comment section here.

How about Davy Crockett Plaza? Phil Collins Center? (The former Genesis drummer, you may have heard, is certain he is a reincarnated hero of the Alamo and accumulated priceless Alamo memorabilia before donating his collection to the Alamo museum.) Perhaps The Crossroads, since that X-shaped intersection brings together three Dallas City Council districts: Lake Highlands, Lakewood and Preston Hollow. Highland Trails to feature the proximity to the jog paths? Maybe The Woodlands, a combo of Lakewood and Lake Highlands?

Enough of my spitballing. We want to hear your ideas. The official survey will go up after Thanksgiving, and RPI will announce the center’s new name shortly thereafter.
