Sneak peak: Hollywood Feed at Lake Highlands Town Center

When Bill Rafkin stood at last week’s Lake Highlands Town Center groundbreaking ceremony donning a white hard hat and holding a silver shovel and announced that new tenants Taco Diner and Hollywood Feed had signed on the dotted line and he held letters of intent for several others, Lake Highlands residents celebrated. “Finally!” said commenters on social media. “I’m so ready,” agreed others.

Taco Diner is part of the M Crowd Restaurant Group, as is Mi Cocina and The Mercury, a sushi and sake concept.

Hollywood Feed, on the other hand, apparently through some of you for a loop.

“Here I am looking up Hollywood Feed’s menu,” messaged my friend John Mina, “only to find that they are a pet food store.”

That’s right, John. Hollywood Feed is not the latest burger joint or chic bistro. It’s a Memphis, Tennessee-based chain that feels like a charming small-town pet store – a place where you know the employees and they know your pets. Until now, our dog, Nellie, and I traveled to Lakewood or to Preston Royal to find a Hollywood Feed, which features products made in America and an in-house grooming room. You can adopt a pet on-site on the days when they host various rescue organizations, and their knowledgeable staff is great at sharing advice and support. They have the latest in natural and specialized pet food and fresh-baked pet treats and even life jackets so that your furry friend can safely join you canoeing at White Rock Lake.

I’ve shared a few photos here from the stores in Lakewood and Preston Royal, just to give us a sneak peek at what the Lake Highlands Town Center store might offer. Nellie can’t wait!
