Homecoming — it’s finally here. This is the most special of weeks at Lake Highlands High School, one jam packed with tradition, excitement and football.

The festivities being on Friday with the community pep rally. Open to all, not just students, it offers a chance to see live performances by the Wranglers, Highlandettes, Bell Boys and more.  The pep rally is free to attend and will take place on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at The Boneyard (a.k.a the stadium).  

Prior to the home game against Jesuit College Prepatory of Dallas, the matter Homecoming Queen will be settled. In the contest for senior queen are Lauren Brunkenhoefer, Caroline Combs, Faith Crowder, Madeline Diffee, Daeja Edwards, Miller Smith and Shamyra Thompson. The winner will be announced before the game starts at 7:30 p.m. at The Boneyard. As is tradition, the Senior King was already named, and honor bestowed on Caleb Addison. The Junior, Sophomore and Freshman queens are Elaina Dorsey, Mary Cade and Lexi Cooper, respectively.

The football game this weekend pits the Wildcats against the Jesuit Rangers, who were just placed back into the district after being moved out of the league for two years, but there is still some bad blood between these teams. This will be a high-intensity game, as the Wildcats look to take home a win on their special night.

Don’t forget to round out Homecoming week with the Varsity Revue that will be 7 p.m. on Thursday and 6 p.m on Saturday. This will feature singers, dancers and other talented kids showcasing their skills. Tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the door.
