Lewis was a standout football and track athlete for the Wildcats. He was featured in a near full page photo on the 2007 yearbook’s track page and was quoted by yearbook staff.

“As the crowd thickened, the Lake Highlands High School Invitational was set to begin. Finishing the 200, Jermaine Lewis, senior, immediately had to prepare to run his next race, the 400. ‘I was tired but I had to finish the race and I ended up getting first place in both the races,’ Lewis said. Lewis proves that hard work and determination pays off.”

Lewis was the man, widely reported in recent days, who disappeared after going for a swim with his girlfriend. Their boat began drifting and he struggled. She was wearing a life jacket, but her efforts to reach him were not successful.

Funeral services have not yet been announced.
