Friday: The Naked Stage returns to Union, the nonprofit coffee shop tucked away on 5622 Dyer. This week the storytelling event features stories, and maybe some music, from School of Rock. The free event begins at 8 p.m.

All weekend: Inside the galleries at the Bath House Cultural Center at White Rock Lake, peruse Natural Impressions: Recent Artwork by Cecilia Thurman. A White Rock area resident, Thurman is a painter and a printmaker whose new series reflects her “abiding love of nature, which is unquestionably a constant theme that can be seen in many of her prints and paintings,” according to the curators. Beginning Sept. 1 the Bath House also will preview artists who will showcase their work at the upcoming White Rock Lake Artists Studio Tour. A reception takes place Saturday 7-9 p.m. Events are free, hours typically are Tuesday through Saturday noon-6 p.m., closed on Sunday and Monday.
Friday-Monday: Labor Day discounts at the Dallas Arboretum. Admission to the Dallas Arboretum is discounted to $5 per person and includes complimentary admission into the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden. Tickets must be purchased at the gate in order to receive this special offer. Guests can enjoy $2 hot dogs and root beer floats, at 8525 Garland Rd.
All weekend: “Death The Musical II: Death Takes A Harmony” at Pocket Sandwich Theatre. Directed by Scott Eckert, the play is a follow-up to the award-winning 2009 show “Death The Musical.” It’s 1982 and a series of unusual deaths in Oklahoma has piqued the interest of a detective from England. Tickets are $12-20. Call the theater at 214.821.1860 for reservations. The show runs through most of September.
All weekend: Nearby at the George W. Bush Presidential Center at SMU, learn about what it takes to get elected to America’s highest office. “Path to the Presidency” provides an in-depth look at campaigns and elections throughout history. While you’re there, swing by the 9/11 exhibit “A Nation Under Attack,” which chronicles one of the darkest moments in recent American history.
