Just in time for National Ice Cream Month, the neighborhood has a new place to grab a sweet scoop with the official opening of Lake Highlands Creamery. According to its Facebook page, the shop’s hours will be from 3-8 p.m. this week during the soft opening with a limited selection of flavors as the new crew of scoopers gets settled in.

You can find them right next to Atomic Pie in the Lakeridge Village Shopping Center, 9660 Audelia Road, suite 121. After Sunday, the store will switch to its full-time hours of 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday; and 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Until last year, creamery proprietor Sean Brockette peddled his frozen treats via an online store and at the occasional fair or farmers market. As demand grew, he knew it was time to open a brick and mortar store, which we first announced last summer. However, it took a little longer than expected to get up and running. Brockette kept business going by by selling scoops through neighboring business partner Atomic Pie, including his weekly naming contests where patrons could offer suggestions for his decadent blends such as Chuck Berry Sorbet.

Now, pizza and an ice cream dessert can be a one-stop shop in Lake Highlands.
