Children attending summer camp at Lake Highlands North Recreation Center enjoyed a special treat this week – a visit from the Engine Crew of Dallas Firehouse 57.
Firefighter Jim Royer, a graduate of Lake Highlands High School, and his partners from C-shift, conducted a first aid and fire safety lesson. Students were then invited outside to tour of Engine 57 and try on the equipment. Royer had the idea for the session while working out in the rec center’s weight room.
“The kids were so attentive and asked many excellent questions,” said Jim’s mom, Maureen Royer, who still lives in LH and attended the session. “This was just another example of our great Lake Highlands community.”
