The Dallas City Councilman is seeking students entering the 10th or 11th grade to participate in the District 10 Civic Leadership Summit July 18-23. Sessions will focus on leadership skills, professional resume writing, public speaking, development of an ‘elevator pitch,’ interviewing individually and before a panel and successfully networking in a variety of settings. The summit will conclude on Saturday with a service project designed to benefit District 10/Lake Highands.

The program is designed for the current leader, the emerging leader or young people hoping to grow their leadership skills.  “The ideal candidate will hold a strong belief that change is possible by the work of a few,” notes the application.

The application was due Friday/today, but McGough tells me he’s extended the deadline into next week to include more students.

You’ll find the application form online here with more information.  You’ll also need a letter of recommendation from a teacher or community member and a personal statement with photo. Emily Worland in Councilman McGough’s office can answer questions at 214-670-5958 or emily.worland@dallascityhall.com.

Best of luck, Wildcats!
