Chick-fil-A location at Garland and Oldgate

Confirmation from property owner John Brodersen: A new Chick-fil-A will begin construction this fall (probably September) at Garland Road and Oldgate and expects to be open Jan. 15, 2017. (No, this restaurant clearly isn’t in Lake Highlands, but it’s close enough that we’ll probably be stopping by from time to time.)

Brodersen, who owns the Carmel Car Wash franchises in the Dallas area, says he also will begin construction on the car wash next to the Chick-fil-A in September.

We wrote about the Chick-fil-A location tale in August 2015, and the story stretched from one end of Garland Road to the other. First, we heard Chick-fil-A planned to locate in Casa Linda Plaza at the southeast corner of Garland Road and Buckner Boulevard (site of the former gas station). Then, the restaurant was lured to the southwest corner of Garland Road and Gaston Avenue.

Chick-fil-A logoFinally, Chick-fil-A settled on the Garland/Oldgate location, near Mid-South Bank and Sonic Drive-In on the site of the now-demolished Legal Directories Publishing building and across Garland Road from Richardson Bike Mart.

As for what’s happening with the locations Chick-fil-A passed up, your guess is as good as ours, but we’ll let you know when we find out.
