Most of us recall the heartbreaking tale. A killer randomly gunned down a newly wed immigrant man who was outside his Richland College area apartment admiring his first-ever snowfall.

Police used surveillance video collected from nearby Audelia Creek Elementary School to track down and eventually arrest a suspect.

And a Dallas jury this week found suspect, 18-year-old Nykerion Nealon, guilty of murder.

Dallas County Prosecutor Justin Lord described Nykerion Nealon as a “gun fanatic” who knew all about AK-47s, according to Fox4. They say he fired 14 rounds at the Walnut Bend Apartments at Audelia and Walnut; one pierced Ahmen Al-jumaili’s heart as he and his wife took one another’s pictures in the first snow he’d ever seen. He’d been in America one month.

In court, Nealon expressed remorse to Al-jumaili’s family, but he says he did not fire the weapon.

However, prosecutor Lord stated, “This case is pretty straight forward and pretty simple,” said Lord. “We all know the truth!  We all know who pulled the trigger and shot the gun. There was no question about that.”

We will update this post once the sentence is announced Tuesday. He faces 5-99 years or life in prison.
