Acock continued, in response to questions about security, “We’ve had safety procedures in place for a while, so this has given us a chance to review them and make sure they are being followed properly. We will be be following a new protocol, moving forward, of only drive thru service from 9-11 p.m., and we will close at 11 p.m.

Police are searching for two suspects who walked up to the Sonic at Audelia and Royal Lane Saturday night and shot a female employee who was sweeping outside. The 11:15 p.m. shooting was part of an attempted robbery, though it’s not clear if they collected any loot before running off.

The robbers had not been apprehended as of Sunday night, but Dallas Police are viewing surveillance video from the store and from the intersection as part of the investigation. Sonic was closed to customers Sunday night while the manager hosted a team meeting to discuss ways to keep her team safe – particularly those working the night shift.

The wounded employee, whose name has not been disclosed, has been released from the hospital.
