Wilder, one of 16 candidates, received the most votes cast, or more than 64% of students voting. He ran as part of a group, Five for Yell, and every member of Wilder’s group was elected: James Pace, Spencer Old, Ian Moss and Cooper Cox.

“Everyone ran a great campaign,” Wilder told the school newspaper. “Everyone loves A&M, everyone’s running for what they believe in and what good that can do for A&M.”

When Wilder was elected last year, he explained to this T-Sip (what Aggies call folks who hail from the University of Texas) what the honor was all about.

“Many schools have cheerleaders, but Texas A&M has Yell Leaders. I personally believe the Yell Leaders and Midnight Yell to be the best traditions in college football,” said Chris. “Yell Leaders promote and perpetuate all Aggie traditions and Aggie athletics. They serve as ambassadors for Texas A&M, encouraging sportsmanship and encouraging students to support the team.”

Congratulations, Chris!
