In 1987, Dallas Observer writer Jim Schutze published a book spelling out the deal made by black leaders and white leaders in Dallas to keep the peace. No one seemed interested at the time, and the book fell out of print. Today, underground copies of “The Accommodation” can be found on Amazon for about $500 a piece. The full story of the book, once called “The Most Dangerous Book in Dallas,” will be discussed by Randy Mayeux at this week’s Lake Highlands Chamber meeting.

The breakfast buffet begins at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21. The cost is $6 for members and $14 for non-members (you can join here and RSVP here). The new location is Neighbors Casual Café at Walnut Hill and Audelia.
