It will be known as the Wildcat Fun Zone, a custom-designed multilevel structure where kids under age 5 can climb, crawl and explore — all while protected from Texas ice, wind, rain and heat, inside the Lake Highlands North Recreation Center at 9440 White Rock Trail.

According to Dallas Park and Recreation officials, “the new indoor play area s the first of its kind in City of Dallas recreation centers.”

We don’t yet have a photo — hence the use of an image that decidedly is not the new Lake Highlands North play haven — but interested parties can check things out in person Saturday Jan. 24 between 2-4 p.m., when the play area is officially unveiled.

The project was made possible in large part by the Lake Highlands Junior Women’s League, whose members raised more than $80,000 for the design, construction and installation.
