As we guessed a couple weeks back, Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings’ Chief of Staff Adam McGough will run against Paul Reyes, who announced his candidacy last Friday.

Robb Stewart, McGough’s city-appointed treasurer, via a press release today, calls McGough “a proud husband, father, and servant leader.”

McGough will run on his experience as leader of Dallas community prosecution and as the mayor’s chief of staff.

More on McGough:

Adam McGough and his wife, Lacy, moved to Lake Highlands in 2006.  They have three boys: Noah, 8, Cooper, 6, and Eli, 2.  Noah and Cooper attend Scofield Christian School in Lake Highlands. Adam was raised in Nacogdoches, Texas, and graduated from The University of Texas in Austin. He earned a law degree from the SMU Dedman School of Law and an LL.M. in Dispute Resolution from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine Law School with a specialization in mediation.  After graduation, Adam practiced commercial litigation before joining the city attorney’s office as a community prosecutor where he focused on eradicating problem properties, increasing public safety, and empowering communities.  Adam rose quickly to become the Chief of Community Prosecution and Community Courts where he supervised the team and brought Lake Highlands its first Community Prosecutor.  In 2013, Adam was appointed as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney where he focused on making our neighborhoods safer. Adam is also the Director of Conflict Management for El Centro College in downtown Dallas.  In 2013, Mayor Mike Rawlings appointed Adam as his Chief of Staff and leader of the GrowSouth economic development plan.  As Chief of Staff, Adam facilitated task forces on education, poverty, charter review, and Fair Park.  He has served on numerous boards and maintains a successful mediation practice.

The filing deadline is near the end of February. About that time, we will publish profiles on both candidates (along with any others who file). Stay tuned.
