Pop Up Market
Looking for some unique Christmas gifts and decorations this year? Stacy Gillispie has opened Pop Up Market next door to Twinbows Embroidery, and she’s offering vintage furniture, home goods, jewelry, accessories and clothing, just in time for Christmas. Part garage sale, part antique shop, the store sells items Stacy and friends have acquired from their searches all over the city.
Pop up markets are a recent trend, allowing vendors to stay flexible in what they sell and where. Stacy says her location is perfect – for now – with inexpensive rent and plenty of parking. During the holiday season, she’ll be open every Thursday – Sunday from 10:30 to 5. After that she’ll open once per month and spend the rest of her time finding things to fill the shop’s shelves.
“I grew up in this area – in fact I skated right there at White Rock Skate,” Stacy told me. Her shop has stayed busy, despite getting started their first day without electricity, “but you have to be flexible,” she said.
Pop Up Market will host a grand opening celebration Saturday, with cookies and cocoa for guests and Christmas carols playing in the shop. (But don’t come in hoping to purchase the Santa pitcher in the photo – that beauty went home with me.) Pop Up Market is located at 10141 Shoreview at Northwest Highway.
