Brumley Gardens owner Chris Brumley says that his love for plants began when he was a 4-year-old helping his great grandmother tend her flower garden.
“She had an eye for design, and I guess I got the gene,” he says.
Several years later, after working in greenhouses and garden stores — plus earning a degree in horticulture — he opened his very own garden store on 10540 Church Road in 1989.
“I started out small, worked 15 hours every day, and put everything I earned back in the business,” Brumley says. “Everything I accomplished I did with nothing but hard work and the support of the loyal customers who have supported me through the years.”
This Sunday, Nov. 23, Brumley will celebrate 25 years of business with those loyal customers by hosting a Christmas wonderland-themed open house full of collectable ornaments, décor and gifts. Join the festivities from noon-5 p.m. for free refreshments, door prizes, and photos with Santa.
